Minecraft’s audio engine is complicated. To explain in simple terms, the game has a specific number of sounds that can be played at an instance. If the actual number of sounds exceed this set value, any successive sound is eliminated from playing. This means, depending on the situation that you are in, the game may not play some sounds. Audio Engine Tweaks Mod (1.20.2, 1.19.3) enhances the sound system and introduces a priority system for sounds.

Priority-Based Sound Management:

• The mod introduces a dynamic sound scheduling system in Minecraft, categorizing sounds based on priority and distance from the player. Lower categories imply higher priority, ensuring that important sounds take precedence.

Optimized Sound Pool Handling:

• To prevent the sound pool from becoming overloaded, the mod employs a fill level threshold. Sound types are selectively allowed to play based on the current fill level of the sound pool. If the pool reaches capacity, successive sounds are intelligently skipped, with built-in rules to avoid unintended scenarios.

Duplication Control for Immersive Experience:

• The mod enhances the player’s auditory experience by implementing a duplication check. Only a predetermined number of instances of the same sound, occurring within the same coordinate (1 square block), are allowed each tick. This control ensures a realistic and immersive audio environment without overwhelming repetition. Additionally, instant playback of sounds categorized as MASTER and MUSIC types is facilitated, prioritizing these critical elements in scenarios such as Main Menu or GUI interactions.
