In Minecraft, the barrel is another important basic item in your inventory. A barrel has 27 slots to store items, similar to a chest. Each item stored in a barrel is removed from your inventory. When you want to use that item, you will need to take it out of the barrel and place it back into your inventory.

How to craft a Barrel in Survival Mode
1. Open the Crafting Menu
First, open your crafting table so that you have the 3×3 crafting grid that looks like this:

In the crafting menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 3×3 crafting grid. To make a barrel, place the items in the 3×3 crafting grids like the examples below.

Now that you have filled the crafting area with the correct pattern, the barrel will appear in the result box.
3. Move the Barrel to Inventory
Once you have crafted the barrel, you need to move the new item to your inventory.
