Egg Wiki Guide
This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft an egg with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.
In Minecraft, an egg is an item that you can not make with a crafting table or furnace. Instead, you need to find and gather this item in the game.
Let’s explore how to add an egg to your inventory.

How to get an Egg in Survival Mode
You can add an egg to your inventory in Survival mode by finding a chicken and waiting for it to lay an egg. So let’s get started!
1. Find a Chicken
You first need to find a chicken. Chickens are very easy to find and can be found in most Overworld biomes on land.
2. Wait for the Chicken to Lay an Egg
A chicken will typically lay an egg every 5-10 minutes in the game. If you pause the game, the chicken will also pause and an egg will not appear. You need to keep the game active for the 5-10 minutes before the chicken will lay the egg.
As the chicken lays the egg, the chicken will make a particular “egg-laying” noise and an egg should appear next to the chicken.
3. Pick up the Egg
Make sure you pick up the egg right away, because it will disappear after a while.
Once you pick up the egg, it will appear in your hotbar.
An egg is a very useful item and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.
