Hostility Level (Passive)

A fox is a passive mob. The term mob is short for mobile and is used to refer to all living, moving creatures in the game such as chickens, creepers, and foxes. Because a fox is a passive mob, it will never attack you in the game (Creative or Survival mode).

Health Points

In Minecraft, a fox has 5 hearts Fox Mob - Wiki Guide 11

for health. This gives a fox 10 health points (because 1 heart = 2 health points). To kill a fox, you need to inflict 10 points of damage to the fox.

Where to Find Foxes

In Minecraft, foxes are nocturnal animals that are more active at night. You can find the Red Fox in the Taiga, Old Growth Pine Taiga and Old Growth Spruce Taiga biomes. The Snowy Fox can be found in the Snowy Taiga and the Grove biomes.

If you are having trouble finding a fox, you can summon a fox using a cheat or you can use a spawn egg.

Weapon

A fox does not carry a weapon.

Attack Method

You are safe to walk near a fox and it will not attack or cause you any damage. And if you attack a fox, it will just try to run away. It will not attack you back.

Drops

A fox may naturally spawn with one of the following items in its mouth – such as an emerald, feather, egg, leather, cooked porkchop, wheat, rabbit hide or rabbit’s foot.

However, a fox can also walk over and pick up any item that it sees on the ground. These items will appear in the fox’s mouth.

When you kill a fox in Minecraft, it will drop the item that it is carrying in its mouth. Make sure you pick up any dropped items before they disappear. They are useful and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.

Experience Points

As you play the game, you will gain experience. The most common way to gain experience is by killing mobs. When a mob is killed you will see tiny green and yellow balls appear and move towards you.

These orbs represent experience points. When you kill a fox, you will gain 1-3 experience points.

Special Skills

A fox is a unique mob that can be tamed which allows the fox to trust a player. The tamed fox will attack hostile mobs that harm this “trusted” player.
