TIP: You can use any type of wood planks! You don’t have to gather them all.

How to craft a Grindstone in Survival Mode

1. Open the Crafting Menu

First, open your crafting table so that you have the 3×3 crafting grid that looks like this:

Grindstone - Wiki Guide 18

2. Add Items to make a Grindstone

In the crafting menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 3×3 crafting grid. To make a grindstone, place 2 sticks, 1 stone slab and 2 wood planks in the 3×3 crafting grid.

When crafting with wood planks, you can use any kind of wood planks, such as oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, bamboo, crimson, or warped planks. In our example, we are using oak planks.

When making a grindstone, it is important that the sticks, stone slab and wood planks are placed in the exact pattern as the image below. In the first row, there should be 1 stick in the first box, 1 stone slab in the second box and 1 stick in the third box. In the second row, there should be 1 wood planks in the first box and 1 wood planks in the third box. This is the Minecraft crafting recipe for a grindstone.

Now that you have filled the crafting area with the correct pattern, the grindstone will appear in the box to the right.

3. Move the Grindstone to Inventory

Once you have crafted a grindstone, you need to move the new item to your inventory.
