Illusioner Mob Wiki Guide
This Minecraft tutorial explains all about illusioners with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.
An illusioner is a new type of illager mob released in Minecraft 1.12. This mob does not spawn naturally in the game yet, instead, it must be summoned with a game command. Let’s learn about illusioners in Minecraft.
Background
The following is a picture of what an illusioner looks like in Minecraft:
Hostility Level | Hostile Mob |

Where to Find | Does not spawn naturally (must be summoned with a command) |
Weapon | Bow Arrows |
Attack Method | Shoots arrows at you with a bow, casts Blindness effect, or casts Duplication |
Drops | 0-1 Bow |
Hostility Level (Hostile)
An illusioner is a hostile mob. The term mob is short for mobile and is used to refer to all living, moving creatures in the game such as chickens, creepers, and illusioners. Because an illusioner is a hostile mob, it will attack you in Survival mode but not Creative mode.
Health Points
In Minecraft, an illusioner has 16 hearts
for health. This gives an illusioner 32 health points (because 1 heart = 2 health points). To kill an illusioner, you need to inflict 32 points of damage to the illusioner.Where to Find Illusioners
Illusioners do not spawn naturally in the game. The only way to spawn an illusioner is to summon an illusioner using a cheat.
Weapon
The illusioner is armed with a bow and arrow as a weapon.
Attack Method
In Minecraft, an illusioner has 3 different attack styles – attack with a bow/arrow, cast Blindness, or cast Duplication.
1. Attack with Bow and Arrow – The first attack is a traditional attack that involves a bow and arrow. Because an illusioner is equipped with a bow hidden in its robe, an illusioner can shoot arrows at you from a distance making it tougher to kill.
2. Cast Blindness – The second attack is a magic attack. With this attack, the illusioner will run away and hold up its arms while it casts magic. You will see purple particles rise from its hands and then the illusioner will cast the Blindness effect on its opponent for 20 seconds.
3. Cast Duplication – The third attack is also a magic attack. With this attack, the illusioner will again run away and hold up its arms while it casts magic. You will see purple particles rise from its hands and then the illusioner will cast a spell that makes the illusioner invisible and then summons duplicates of itself.
Drops
When you kill an illusioner in Minecraft, it may drop one or more of the following items: a bow.
Make sure you pick up the dropped item before it disappears. This item is useful and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.
Experience Points
As you play the game, you will gain experience. The most common way to gain experience is by killing mobs. When a mob is killed you will see tiny green and yellow balls appear and move towards you.
These orbs represent experience points. When you kill an illusioner, you will gain 6 experience points.
