Raw Gold Wiki Guide

This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft raw gold with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.

In Minecraft, raw gold is a new item that was introduced in the Caves & Cliffs Update: Part I. Raw gold is an item that you can not make with a crafting table or furnace. Instead, you need to find and gather this item in the game.

How to get Raw Gold in Survival Mode

You can add raw gold to your inventory in Survival mode by mining either gold ore or deepslate gold ore. So, let’s get started!

1. Find Gold Ore or Deepslate Gold Ore

First, let’s explore where to find gold ore and deepslate gold ore. Both are found in small deposits underground in the Overworld.

Gold Ore

This is what gold ore looks like:

Raw Gold - Wiki Guide 6

Gold ore is medium gray with gold specks, and can be usually be found at a y-coordinate between 1 and 63.

Deepslate Gold Ore

This is what deepslate gold ore looks like:

Raw Gold - Wiki Guide 7

Deepslate gold ore is darker gray with orange and green specks, and is usually found below a y-coordinate of 0.

2. Hold a Diamond, Iron, or Netherite Pickaxe

To mine these ores, you need to dig up the block with a diamond pickaxe, iron pickaxe, or netherite pickaxe.

Other tools will not dig up the block and let you add the raw gold to your inventory.

In this example, we are going to use a diamond pickaxe to dig up the block.

3. Mine the Block

The game control to mine the block depends on the version of Minecraft:

  • For Java Edition (PC/Mac), left click and hold on the block.
  • For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold on the block.
  • For Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
  • For PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
  • For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
  • For Windows 10 Edition, left click and hold on the block.
  • For Education Edition, left click and hold on the block.

You will need to continue to dig until the block breaks and a small raw gold finally appears. The raw gold will float on the ground.

4. Pick up the Raw Gold

Make sure you pick up the raw gold before it disappears.
