Soul Speed Enchantments Wiki Guide

This Minecraft tutorial explains the Soul Speed enchantment with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.

Background

The Soul Speed enchantment allows you to move faster on soul sand and soul soil. This increased speed is very useful when travelling through the Soul Sand Valley biome in the Nether dimension.

You can add the Soul Speed enchantment to boots using an anvil or game command, but you can not add the Soul Speed enchantment using an enchanting table. You will need to wear the enchanted boots to gain the increased speed on soul sand and soul soil.

The maximum level for the Soul Speed enchantment is Level 3. This means that you can enchant an item with up to Soul Speed III. The higher the level, the more powerful the enchantment.

Where to find Soul Speed in Survival Mode

Since you can’t use an enchanting table to get Soul Speed, you will need to find it in the game. There are a number of places to find Soul Speed in Survival mode.

1. Find a Chest in a Bastion Remnant

In Minecraft, you can add Soul Speed enchanted boots or enchanted book to your inventory by going to the Nether and finding a Bastion Remnant that has a chest inside.

If you haven’t been to the Nether you need to build a nether portal to take you to the Nether dimension.

Once you’ve found a Bastion Remnant, look inside the structure for a chest. There may be many chests hidden within and each chest will contain different items.

When you find a chest in the Bastion Remnant, you need to open it to see what is inside.

If you are lucky, you will find boots or a book with the Soul Speed enchantment.

In this example, we have found a large chest that has both golden boots enchanted with Soul Speed as well as a Soul Speed enchanted book. Move these items to your inventory.

2. Barter with a Piglin

In Minecraft, you can also barter with a piglin to get Soul Speed.

To do this, first make sure you are wearing a piece of golden armor (golden helmet, golden chestplate, golden leggings or golden boots) so that the piglin does not attack you. Then throw a gold ingot on the ground next to the piglin (you can also “use” the gold ingot on the piglin to initiate the bartering process).

Soul Speed Enchantments - Wiki Guide 16

The piglin will turn around and pick up the gold ingot and examine it for a few seconds.

Soul Speed Enchantments - Wiki Guide 17

Once the piglin accepts the gold ingot, it will throw back another item in exchange and the bartering process is done.

Soul Speed Enchantments - Wiki Guide 18

When bartering with a piglin, you have a chance of getting boots enchanted with Soul Speed or a Soul Speed enchanted book. Continue to barter with the piglin until you get one of these items with Soul Speed.

Wear the Enchanted Boots

Once you have boots that are enchanted with Soul Speed, you need to wear the enchanted boots. You will not gain the increased speed when moving across soul sand and soul soil until the boots are worn.

Soul Speed Enchantments - Wiki Guide 19

Move the boots with Soul Speed from your inventory to your character’s boots box.

You will see your character’s appearance change as the boots are worn.

Soul Speed Enchantments - Wiki Guide 20

Now that you are wearing the enchanted boots on your feet, you can travel faster across soul sand and soul soil.
