Hostility Level (Passive)

A squid is a passive mob. The term mob is short for mobile and is used to refer to all living, moving creatures in the game such as chickens, creepers, and squids. Because a squid is a passive mob, it will never attack you in the game (Creative or Survival mode).

Health Points

In Minecraft, a squid has 5 hearts img-responsive for health. This gives a squid 10 health points (because 1 heart = 2 health points). To kill a squid, you need to inflict 10 points of damage to the squid.

Where to Find Squids

In Minecraft, you can find squids in most Overworld biomes swimming in ponds, rivers or oceans. A squid can only survive in the water. If it is on land, it will start to take damage until it dies.

If you are having trouble finding a squid, you can summon a squid using a cheat or you can use a spawn egg.

Weapon

A squid does not carry a weapon.

Attack Method

You are safe to walk or swim near a squid and it will not attack or cause you any damage. And if you attack a squid, it will just produce an ink cloud and try to swim away. It will not attack you back.

Drops

When you kill a squid in Minecraft, it will drop an ink sac.

Make sure you pick up any dropped items before they disappear. They are useful and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.

Experience Points

As you play the game, you will gain experience. The most common way to gain experience is by killing mobs. When a mob is killed you will see tiny green and yellow balls appear and move towards you.

These orbs represent experience points. When you kill a squid, you will gain 1-3 experience points.

Spawn Egg for Squid

You can spawn a squid using the following spawn egg:
