The First City mod is, without a doubt, one of the best storyline mods ever made for Minecraft. The mod was developed by Refresh Studios, a mod development team that consists of very well known developers like Rat, iChun & YungNickYoung. The mod is intended to be played once in a survival world and is suitable for both singleplayer and multiplayer.

The story begins from the large portal frame in the Ancient City. In the vanilla game, this structure is of no use, but in this mod, this portal serves as the very beginning, engulfing you into an amazing gaming and visual experience like never before.

THE GUIDE:

To begin, you have to find an Ancient City biome. There is a portal frame in the center, which is a vanilla structure. But with this mod installed, you will notice a small pedestal in front of the frame.

To activate the frame, you will need to obtain a warden key.

To obtain a warden key, you will need to find and kill wardens.

Once you have obtained a warden key, you can insert it into the pedestal.

This will activate the Ancient portal.

Once the portal lights up, you will notice some creepy tentacles reaching out from the other side of the portal.

One of these tentacles is going to reach out to you and pull you into the portal.

The First City

On the other side of the portal is the First City dimension.

This new dimension is basically a large and mysterious place with a lot of bridges connecting two border walls.

Your task is to walk through these interconnecting bridges.

The bridge is broken at many places, and if not careful, will make you fall to your death.

While traversing through the bridge, you will notice a large dark sphere on one of the sides. This is “The Eye”, the entity that you have to destroy.

You will also come across many wardens while traversing on the bridges. Stay safe!

At one point during your journey, you will come across a large cannon.

Right click on the cannon to enter. Use the player movement keys to aim. And press and hold the spacebar key to shoot a strong laser beam.

Your goal is to shoot the laser at the eye and activate it. But here, the eye is blocked by this building. Shoot the laser to destroy it.

Once there are no obstructions, you can shoot the laser directly at the eye.

This will activate the eye and a cutscene will begin to play.

During the cutscene, you will notice the laser cannon being torn apart into three and being pulled out by some tentacles. The player will also be pulled.

In this scene, it can clearly be observed that the player is being pulled into the eye along with the three pieces of the laser cannon.

Once pulled in, you are shown an inside view of the eye.

This will take you to a whole new dimension called “Inside The Eye”. You can see the powerful pupil of the eye in the center.

You will be spawned onto a central island. Here, you can see a stand ready to be assembled into a portal.

As you move towards the stand, you will be notified that you will need to find the three missing pieces to assemble the complete laser cannon.

And if you turn left, you will notice a glowing strike.

This glowing strike is a portal and you have to enter it.

Once you enter the portal, you will be teleported to a different area.

Challenge 1: Obtaining the first piece.

It is recommended to carry a bow and arrow with you, as this island is filled with ghast-like fire spitting monsters.

You will notice steam coming out of the ground.

Enter this steam to levitate onto a higher island.

Levitate from island to island until you reach the highest point. Here lies the first piece of the second cannon.

Touch the cannon piece to pick it, and you will be teleported back to the central island.

Here, you can assemble the first part of the cannon.

Once again, you can notice a glowing strike on your left side. Enter it.

This time, you will be teleported to a different island.

Challenge 2: Obtaining the second piece.

Here, you will notice tiny spider-like mobs guarding a laser gate. It is recommended to fight them off from a distance.

Since the entrance is locked by laser beams. You have to go either to your left or to your right. You will meet a dead end.

But as you can notice, there are some special pods here.

Walking over these pods will give you a boost to jump onto the next island.

On the final island, you will notice a tower that you have to disable by right clicking.

Return to the man island and do the same to a second tower on the opposite side. This will unlock the laser guarded gate.

Walking in, you will notice the second piece required for your assembly.

Pick it up, and enter the portal that appears.

Once again, you will be teleported back to the central island to assemble the second piece of the cannon.

Enter the glowing strike on the left once again.

This time, you will be teleported to a new place.

Challenge 3: Obtaining the third piece.

On this island, you will have to defeat the Crystal Mage, the boss of the island.

The Crystal Mage has the ability to summon baby soldiers, and therefore defeating him is a challenging task.

Once you defeat the Crystal Mage, the third piece will appear.

Pick it up and enter the portal that appears.

Once again you will be returned to the central island to place the third piece of the laser cannon.

Once the third and final piece is placed, the laser cannon is complete and ready to be used.

Right click to enter the cannon. Aim at the pupil of the eye and shoot.

This will destroy the eye.

Once destroyed, your screen will flash white and you will teleported a new location.

This is a final completion level that acts as a credit screen for the amazing team that developed this awesome mod.

Here too, you will notice a glowing strike portal.

Entering the portal will take you back to your spawn point in the overworld, where you can continue your endless survival journey, while being assured that you have defeated the most powerful enemy – The Eye.
