Tinted Glass Wiki Guide
This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft tinted glass with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.
In Minecraft, tinted glass is a new item that was introduced in the Caves & Cliffs Update: Part I. Tinted glass is a new type of glass that reduces the amount of light that passes through it. One of the benefits of tinted glass is that you can break and gather tinted glass without needing Silk Touch. When you craft tinted glass, the crafting process will create 2 blocks of tinted glass at a time.
Let’s explore how to make tinted glass.

2. Add Items to make Tinted Glass
In the crafting menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 3×3 crafting grid. To make tinted glass, place 4 amethyst shards and 1 glass in the 3×3 crafting grid.
When making tinted glass, it is important that the amethyst shards and glass are placed in the exact pattern as the image below. In the first row, there should be 1 amethyst shard in the second box. In the second row, there should be 1 amethyst shard in the first box, 1 glass in the second box, and 1 amethyst shard in the third box. Now that you have filled the crafting area with the correct pattern, the tinted glass will appear in the box to the right.
