Vertically Stacked Dimensions Mod

Vertically Stacked Dimensions Mod (1.12.2) will expand the standard world by placing dimensions vertically on top of each other and allowing travel between them using portals. Currently, instead of bedrock, you will find a portal to an underground dimension resembling the Nether. Effectively increases the Build height by stacking dimensions above each other with transition portals in between.

Vertically Stacked Dimensions Mod (1.12.2) - Easier Way to Connect Dimensions 1

This mod simply provides an easier way to connect dimensions, with portals between each layer of world. Dimensions are stacked above each other making it far more interesting to reach a place like the nether. In addition you can modify the amount of ore generation between each dimensions. Can designate to replace separate blocks at different heights in the world.

Features:

  • Upon world generation the top and/or bottom most block layer of configured dimensions is filled with special portal blocks. These portal blocks are indestructable like bedrock and allow players and other entities to travel to the next lower or higher configured dimension when moving through them.
  • They also mimic the existence (or non existence) of solid blocks in the first two layers adjacent to the portal in the other dimension. This includes the abillity to break and place blocks in these layers via interaction through the portal. This is to make the transition more smooth and avoid the problems with travelling upwards through portals (immediately falling back when reaching the other side).
  • The primitivity of this mimicing (only distinguishing between solid or not) is mainly due to the very limited amount of information that can be stored in block states while using TileEntities would have a serious impact on performace and ram usage due to the massive amount of blocks and is therefore avoided.

Configs:

  • By default if you create a new world this mod will only put the Overworld on top of the Nether dimension. To change this and include other (modded) dimensions there are two options:
    • [simple] Click the “Stacked Dimensions” button that was added next to the “Additional World Settings” button when creating a new world and tinker with the dimension stack using the graphical interface.
    • [advanced] Edit the configuration file of this mod located under “/config/cd4017be/verticalDimensionStack.rcp”.
