Hostility Level (Hostile)

A zombie is a hostile mob. The term mob is short for mobile and is used to refer to all living, moving creatures in the game such as chickens, creepers, and zombies. Because a zombie is a hostile mob, it will attack you in Survival mode but not Creative mode.

Health Points

In Minecraft, a zombie has 10 hearts Zombie Mob - Wiki Guide 10

for health. This gives a zombie 20 health points (because 1 heart = 2 health points). To kill a zombie, you need to inflict 20 points of damage to the zombie.

Where to Find Zombies

In Minecraft, you can find zombies in most Overworld biomes in light levels of 7 or less. Zombies will spawn in the dark, usually at night. Once a zombie has spawned in the dark, it can not survive in the daylight. When the sun comes out, the zombie will burst into flames and take damage until it dies.

If you are having trouble finding a zombie, you can summon a zombie using a cheat or you can use a spawn egg.

Weapon

Normally a zombie does not carry a weapon. However, in rare cases, a zombie may spawn with a weapon or tool such as:

A zombie can also pick up a weapon off the ground and then equip it.

Attack Method

In Minecraft, a zombie will move towards you and try to hit you when it attacks. If it is carrying a weapon, it will try to strike you with the weapon.

Drops

When you kill zombie in Minecraft, it may drop one of the following items: rotten flesh, carrot, or potato.

It is worth noting that it is extremely rare for a zombie to drop a carrot or potato, but it does happen.

Make sure you pick up any dropped items before they disappear. They are useful and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.

TIP: If a zombie is wearing armor or carrying a weapon when killed, it will sometimes drop these items too. But this is very rare!

Experience Points

As you play the game, you will gain experience. The most common way to gain experience is by killing mobs. When a mob is killed you will see tiny green and yellow balls appear and move towards you.

These orbs represent experience points. When you kill a zombie, you will gain 5 experience points.

Zombie during the Day

A zombie can not survive in daylight. When exposed to light, the zombie will burst into flames and eventually die.

Zombie Mob - Wiki Guide 17

If a zombie stands under a tree or goes in the water, it will be protected from the sun and stop burning. Also, if it gets cloudy and rains or it turns to night, a zombie will be fine and not burn.

Also, if a zombie is wearing a cap or helmet, it will be protected from the sunlight.

Special Skills

A zombie can pick up items such as weapons and armor from the ground and then equip it. This can make a zombie a tougher mob to kill.

Here is an example of two zombies wearing armor.

The zombie on the left is wearing an iron helmet, and the zombie on the right has full leather armor on.

Spawn Egg for Zombie
